Email and Virus protection
is available on an account level for any domain, via the use of our Barracuda
Anti-Spam Firewall, http://www.barracudanetworks.com
The filter works on the
domain name level, i.e. all accounts in the domain must pass through the
filter, and is achieved by setting the mx record to point to
barracuda.mydomain.com for each domain. This means that all spam filtering and
virus scanning takes place on the Barracuda Spam Firewall, which preserves
resources on the mail server.

As mail for a particular domain flows through the Spam Firewall, various virus and spam checks are made, and if the email is suspicious it is quarantined. The first time an email is quarantined for a particular user, The Barracuda Spam Firewall creates an account for that user and emails all the information necessary for accessing the quarantined email.

Clicking on the link will
take you to your personal quarantine and rules area:
This
is your personal quarantine area, and you can choose which action to perform on
each entry:
1.
Delete, this will not
only delete the item but also designate it as spam.
2.
Whitelist, choose this
option if you want the email to be delivered, and future emails from this
sender not to be blocked.
3.
Deliver, will forward
the email but not make any rule changes.
Clicking
on the Preferences Bar will bring you to the following screen.
At the Quarantine
Enable/Disable level you can disable the quarantine feature. This is not
recommended, but you can use this feature for testing. Clicking on the Security
Bar will bring you to the following screen.
Whenever
you whitelist an email address it is added to your whitelist, acceptable users.
At this level you can manually enter email
addresses
or entire domain names to whitelist.
Conversely, you can also add addresses and domains that you wish to be
blocked.
When
finished entering any data always click save changes.
If
you click on Quarantine Notification it brings you to the following screen.
This
will control the interval that Barracuda will send you your quarantine report
by e-mail. You can check your quarantine area at any time
by going to http://barracuda.yourdomainname.com:8000 and entering your email address and password.
The
Virus Scanning is controlled on the server administrator level, new virus
updates are regularly implemented and
the server is
automatically
kept up to date in an effort to combat all the latest viruses.
